Mission
Bob Dixon gives us the best opportunity to accomplish our goals
For more than 20 years, I have had a deep commitment to public service and a passion for improving the lives of citizens in my state. Since being elected as Presiding Commissioner of Greene County, I have worked tirelessly to build strong relationships within the National Association of Counties (NACo) and to enhance the effectiveness of local governance.
My journey in public service began in 2002 when I was elected to represent District 140 in the Missouri House of Representatives. My dedication and leadership were quickly recognized, as I served in various leadership roles, including Majority Caucus Chair and Chair of the Transportation Committee. In 2010, I was elected to the Missouri Senate, where I continued to champion significant legislative reforms, such as the comprehensive revision of Missouri's Criminal Code and the re-circuiting of the state's court system.
As Presiding Commissioner, I have focused on fostering bipartisanship and collaboration. I have been a steadfast advocate for direct appropriations to counties, ensuring that essential services and programs receive the necessary funding.
During my tenure as the Missouri representative for NACo, I have been continually impressed by the association's determination and its role as a beacon of bipartisanship. NACo has consistently brought people together to solve problems efficiently and effectively. I believe I have effectively conveyed that message during my time with the association, all while serving in these positions:
Finance, Pensions, and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee, five years
Broadband Task Force
NACo Board of Directors, four years
As I enter my seventh year as Presiding Commissioner of the county where Missouri’s third largest and fastest growing city is located, I can see the challenges that lie ahead with our local governments and federal institutions. Right now, we are witnessing a shift towards a smaller, more agile federal government. I believe the era of big government and subsidies is coming to an end.
Now is the time for us to advocate for direct appropriations to counties, which provide essential services and programs. This requires fresh leadership and a strong presence at the decision-making table. I am committed to leveraging the relationships I have built over 16 years in the Missouri legislature to enhance our effectiveness on Capitol Hill.
We must maintain our balance and prevent any form of extreme partisanship or ideological rigidity from weakening our unity and effectiveness. Together, we can ensure that our organization continues to grow, thrive and serve our communities.
Thank you for your support.
